The state's Cannabis Control Commission approved the acquisition of Ermont, Inc.'s assets last week, the first cannabis company to be acquired by MariMed. The acquisition will allow MariMed to expand its operations into the Massachusetts market, where Ermont has been a major player in the medical cannabis industry.
MariMed COO Timothy Shaw discussed the company's intention to acquire the Ermont, Inc. cannabis assets and roadmap for 2023. A federal class action lawsuit was filed by a former employee of a cannabis dispensary company that employed workers in Quincy, alleging that the company violated federal labor laws by failing to pay overtime and other wages. The lawsuit seeks damages for the affected workers, as well as penalties for the company.
Developer wants to annex 41.3 acres west of the Quincy village limits, but Quincy Township officials are concerned it could allow for more cannabis businesses in the area. The developer has not disclosed any plans for the land, but township officials are urging caution in allowing further expansion of the cannabis industry in the area.
