(New Buffalo Township, MI) - Rap legend Snoop Dogg apparently passed through the area over the weekend, as his tour bus was outside one of the newest cannabis dispensaries in New Buffalo. The Rolling Embers, URB, and The Bloomery recently opened off Exit 1 on Interstate 94, making it the first exit past the township.

The New Buffalo Township Board has been taking steps to regulate the cannabis industry in the area. During a March 14 special meeting, they approved an ordinance imposing a moratorium on marijuana facilities and establishments. This move aims to control the number of dispensaries popping up in the township.

In April, the township board approved two final special land use permits for adult-use marijuana retail establishments. This decision signals a shift towards embracing the growing cannabis market while still maintaining control over its growth. The board also approved an ordinance imposing a moratorium on marijuana facilities, further solidifying their stance on regulating the industry.

Southfield, a nearby city, also discussed the expansion of the cannabis market at an April 1 meeting. The City Council deliberated on Cloud Opportunity's request to build and operate a one-story marijuana facility, showing the trend towards acceptance and legalization of cannabis in the region.

New Buffalo Township is strategically located just across the state line in Michigan, making it an attractive location for cannabis businesses looking to capitalize on the growing market. However, the township is taking a cautious approach to prevent a saturation of dispensaries in the area. The recent approvals and ordinances reflect the township's efforts to balance economic opportunities with responsible regulation.

In a 5-2 vote, the Southfield City Council approved a third recreational marijuana retail facility on April 15. This decision highlights the shifting attitudes towards cannabis in the region and the increasing demand for access to legal cannabis products.

Overall, The Bloomery's opening in New Buffalo signifies the township's evolving stance on the cannabis industry. As more dispensaries open in the area, residents and visitors alike have access to a growing variety of cannabis products. With careful regulation and strategic planning, New Buffalo is poised to become a hub for legal cannabis in the region.
