How Much Does an Ounce of Weed Cost? With recreational marijuana now legal in many states, many people are wondering how much an ounce of weed costs. While prices vary from state to state, there are some general trends that can be seen in the market. This article will explore the cost of an ounce of cannabis flower and its equivalent in states like Connecticut, Michigan, New Jersey, and California.

In Connecticut, the start of recreational marijuana sales on Tuesday brought much fanfare but not the same level of demand seen in other states. Sales will be limited to 1/4 ounce of cannabis flower or its equivalent, per transaction, with the maximum purchase per person being 1/2 ounce. That means an ounce of cannabis flower or its equivalent would cost around $250.

In Michigan, according to the Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency, the state's average price of recreational marijuana dropped to $95.12 per oz. This is due to the state's large supply of cannabis, as well as the large number of dispensaries and other cannabis-related businesses.

In New Jersey, prices are slightly higher than in Michigan, with an average of $1.52 per ounce for its social equity fee. This means the cost of an ounce of cannabis flower or its equivalent would be around $96.64.

In California, the slump in wholesale prices has allowed Empire to regularly offer discounted ounces for as low as $185, or $23 for an eighth. A full ounce of cannabis flower or its equivalent would cost around $230.

In 2022, the average price per ounce of recreational and medical marijuana in Michigan is estimated to be around $93. This is due to the large supply of cannabis and the number of dispensaries and other cannabis-related businesses in the state.

In New York, the mood inside the dispensary, Housing Works Cannabis Co., is cautiously optimistic. One-eighth of an ounce of smokable weed costs between $40 and $60 before tax, with an ounce costing around $300.

When it comes to the cost of an ounce of cannabis flower and its equivalent, there is no one-size-fits-all answer. Prices vary from state to state, and even from dispensary to dispensary. However, an ounce of cannabis flower or its equivalent will generally cost somewhere between $250 and $300.
