The expansion of medical marijuana across the US is gaining more traction as states look to legalize the drug for medical use. With legislation being passed in states like Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky and Missouri, it's becoming more and more accessible. Georgia recently passed legislation to approve the use of medical cannabis, becoming the 36th state to do so. The Georgia Access to medical Cannabis Commission unanimously approved the measure and citizens now have access to the drug for medical use.
Lawmakers in South Carolina are also planning a bipartisan effort to legalize the use of medical marijuana this year. The effort looks to make the drug more widely accessible for those who need it for medical purposes.
The conservative southern state of Alabama is also launching a legal medical marijuana program, as well as Mississippi and Kentucky. In November, Missouri voted to legalize recreational marijuana, but medical use is still legal in all three states.
