The South Carolina state Senate this week approved a bill to legalize medical marijuana in an initial vote on the measure. The Senate voted 25-16 in favor of the special order motion from Senate Majority Leader Shane Massey (R) that would have put the S.C. Debate over the legalization of medical marijuana is set to continue on the South Carolina Senate floor on Thursday, Feb. 8. South Carolina law says no matter how you obtain it, it is illegal to have any parts of a marijuana plant except mature stalks or plant fibers. The South Carolina chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) is shutting down after seven years.
