WINNIPEG — The Manitoba government's plan to let people grow cannabis in their homes is being accompanied by a temporary pause on approval for commercial cultivation licenses. Manitoba, one of two provinces to enact rules against growing adult-use marijuana at home when Canada legalized cannabis in 2018, plans to finally allow residents to grow their own cannabis plants.

The New York State Cannabis Control Board approved regulations for homegrown marijuana three years after the Marijuana Regulation & Taxation Act was passed. The board voted on Friday to allow adults over 21 to grow cannabis plants in their homes. This move marks a significant step towards ensuring accessibility for adult recreational users.

For the first time since cannabis was legalized in 2018, adult recreational users in Manitoba will have the green light to grow their own marijuana. This decision comes after years of debate and pushback from various stakeholders in the industry.

Nearly three years after marijuana was legalized, New York is finally establishing rules to let anyone 21 or older grow a limited number of cannabis plants at home. The state is taking steps to ensure that residents have the opportunity to cultivate their own supply and have more control over the quality of their cannabis products.

A proposed bill debated last week in the Washington Legislature would allow those 21 and older to grow and keep the products from as many as six cannabis plants at home. This proposed legislation aims to give residents the freedom to cultivate their own cannabis and reduce their reliance on costly purchases from dealers.

Buying marijuana from your local dealer can be expensive, and you may not always be sure of the quality you're purchasing. Allowing residents to grow their own cannabis at home can provide a more cost-effective and reliable option for consumers.

New York edged closer to allowing residents to grow their own marijuana at home, following new rules from the state Cannabis Control Board. This decision signifies a shift towards empowering individuals to take control of their cannabis consumption and production.
