In recent years, the laws and technology surrounding liquid marijuana shots have seen many changes. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice combine the spiced rum, melon liqueur, coconut rum, blue curacao, sweet and sour mix, and pineapple juice. According to a press release, Twin Peaks is also offering drink specials on their Liquid Marijuana shots and cocktails. Minnesota lawmakers rejected an effort to bring a marijuana legalization bill in 2019, however they passed a bill allowing residents to receive cannabis in a liquid, pill or vaporized form.

Maxwell Reis, beverage director, serves a drink containing Cannabidol CBD extract with a marijuana leaf. This type of drink is becoming increasingly popular as new kinds of emulsification technology allow for cannabinoids to be suspended in liquids for consumption. As a result, people are now able to be creative with how they consume marijuana.

In 2020, New Jersey started to let people legally buy marijuana by choice, meaning people are now able to purchase liquid marijuana shots. An astronaut aboard the International Space Station even shot a picture of the state from above as a symbol of this change. In Utah, the laws for marijuana use have also loosened up throughout the state, with people now able to purchase the drug in a tablet, capsule, concentrated oil or liquid suspension form.

As the legal status of marijuana continues to change, its use has steadily risen. People have even turned to using drug test kits or mega clean detox drinks to mask their marijuana usage. Despite this, there have been reports of “fentanyl-laced marijuana” that has a 50 to 100-times higher potency than powder or liquid cocaine.

To combat this threat, the Connecticut Forensic Science Laboratory is looking at drug detection that can detect this potentially potent drug. Scientists have also been researching the effects of THC, the main psychoactive component of marijuana, in liquid form. This research can provide insight on how the body processes the drug and how it affects the user.

The use of liquid marijuana shots has become increasingly popular, as more states and countries are beginning to legal marijuana. With the new technology and laws, people are now able to purchase and consume liquid marijuana shots in a variety of different forms. Research on the effects of the drug in liquid form will also allow for people to make more informed decisions when it comes to using marijuana.
